Sustainability Committee News

Work on the community garden has been slow but steady over the last few weeks. Unfortunately, the area isn't much to look at at the moment, we're well past the half-way point in terms of work, and aesthetic improvements will come in the next few weeks. Special thanks to Howard, who has provided me with a steady supply of old logs to line the base of the raised beds!

As lockdown ends, and we start to return to Stromlo, I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone of the extra sustainability options available. All food and organic waste can be put in the designated bins in each of the kitchens for on-site composting near the community garden. These are emptied every Friday afternoon; if one is full before then please let me know at sustainability@mso.anu.edu.au. You can also bring in your food and organic waste from home for composting (please take it directly to the compost area, don't leave it in/near the kitchen bins!). There are also collection areas for difficult-to-recycle waste (top floor of Woolley, lower Duffield, CSO kitchen) for a range of items that can't go in the normal recycling bin. Full details of all of these schemes can be found here (NB - you'll need to be on site or use the VPN to access).

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to get in touch at sustainability@mso.anu.edu.au!
