Student Writing Retreat

Third time's a charm! After being postponed twice due to COVID, the first RSAA Student Writing Retreat was held at Bateman's Bay during the first week of May. Many paper drafts, thesis chapters, responses to referee reports, and lines of code were written by the 23 attendees.

We were fortunate to catch the last of the nice weather, and made trips to the beach just down the road - with some braving the cool waters for a swim. Thank you to Jonah for hosting a fantastic trivia evening on the second night, and to all the students who attended the retreat!

From feedback, everyone was pleasantly surprised at how productive they were, and very much enjoyed being able to hang out with fellow students outside of Canberra for a few days. Maybe the postponement was for the best, as it allowed our newly arrived international students to join! I was very happy to see our student cohort bonding after these challenging few years, and hope to see this retreat be held again in the future.

Thank you to the RSAA Strategic Initiatives for funding this event!
