IDEA Committee Update

Published in the RSAA Lunations
Vol1 Issue35 1–31 December 2022

With Christmas approaching and the year drawing to a close, the IDEA Committee would like to thank everyone at RSAA for engaging with the social, cultural and training activities organised by the School. While the IDEA Committee will take the lead on School-level actions arising from the Culture Survey, the recently circulated report also makes a strong case for consistent, day-to-day small actions that we can all take, such as sparing a few minutes of our day to reach out to others.

After the various training offered throughout this year, now is also the time to start planning our activities for 2023. While we will continue to offer training opportunities, albeit more sparsely, in the new year we would like to focus on community driven events. We have created a shared document where anyone can sign up to organise an activity. This could be for e.g., meeting up for a croquet game (did you know we have a croquet field behind the director's residence?!?), a potluck event, an astro-coffee, etc … your imagination is the limit. If you need support organising it, the IDEA Committee will help where we can.

The IDEA committee has also started to work on the Pleiades Awards. Building on the Bronze status achieved two years ago, this year RSAA aims for the Silver recognition. Please, expect a draft of the application to be circulated School-wide early in the new year for comments and feedback.

We wish you all a great and restful Christmas break and we look forward to engaging with all  of you for another fruitful year!
