School Manager's Update
Published in the RSAA Lunations
Vol1 Issue43 1–31 August 2023
Hello everyone.
A few updates for the unseasonably warm month of August.
Woolley Building
Further to the recent update, we have been instructed to commence the transition to the CSO building by the end of August. In the coming days, we will send out some detailed information.
In the meantime, we will continue to shred paperwork and clean out cupboards to make room at CSO. I encourage everyone to make the most of the warm weather and conduct a cleanout as well.
We have placed 3 skip bins (General, recycling and E-Waste) in the Woolley carpark to facilitate this.
Visitor’s Centre
I admit we have been talking about the Visitors Centre more and more frequently recently, but I can confirm that things are shaping up nicely. In the last few weeks, we have discussed the reopening at various high levels within the ANU, generating great excitement along the way. The business plan is just about ready for formalisation with ANU Commercial Services. Our partner is commencing preparations on the back end, visiting the site with increasing frequency.
Early December is the target, although there are still a few hurdles to cross before then. Stay tuned for more updates.
General Admin and ANU processes
ANU is a diverse and complex organisation and one of the largest within the ACT. With size and complexity, comes a wide range of policies and processes, seemingly not always fit for the business we operate. I hear concerns and frustrations on a regular basis along with suggestions for improvement. Together with the College of Science functions and the College General Manager, we relay this information through discussions and escalations to various levels within the ANU. While we have localised wins here or there, some matters persist year on year. I write this to say, we hear you, the Collage hears us, and we will continue to pursue these matters for everyone’s benefit.
Within RSAA Admin, we do our best to assist or perhaps shield you from some of these challenges and while we usually know the ins and outs to achieve relatively efficient outcomes, ultimately we are still bound by University processes. If you are stuck with an administrative matter, reach out to anyone from the Admin team or myself, and we will do our best to assist you. Please note, cases can take a little bit of time, as there are various touch points for each process.
As always, reach out and come for a chat.
