Never a dull moment
In the week leading up to Open Day, it has been a very busy period at SSO. The week was bookmarked by a visit by Julia Bryant from the University of Sydney who came up to replace a broken part in the Hector Robot, and by Summer Luo, who will arrive from Macquarie University tomorrow transporting a motor to replace the one that failed in the CURE adaptor one week ago. In the meantime, the calibration slide the motor controlled is being positioned by hand.
In the days between, we had Ian Adams service cryo-heads at SkyMapper, Vlad Churilov from MQ fixing the leak in the blue cryostat of AAOmega, Ross Zhelem from MQ taking some technical data for MAVIS, and Kristin Fiegert, Dionne Haynes and Tom Woodrow repairing 2dF fibres. You might ask why do we do this? Here’s a link to an article that explains why.
