School Managers Update
Published in the RSAA Lunations
Vol1 Issue46 1–30 November 2023
Hello everyone,
The weather is warming up and we are nearing the end of the year. This is just another reminder to finalise your 2023 administrative matters as soon as possible before the end-of-year shutdown. Late Nov/ early Dec is the cutoff for most.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the site evacuation drill on Friday 27 October. This was a good test due to many warden absences that day. Despite the challenges, we managed to sweep the entire MSO site in 16 minutes and our core buildings in less than 8. A few new wardens will be joining the ranks shortly, at which point we will arrange some refresher training exercises.
The College of Science is currently running the 2024 budget process. While we might soon hear that the ANU budget process is complete, the COS internal process takes a little longer due to the collaborative nature and detailed considerations. We will need to wait a few more weeks for the final 2024 allocation.
Friday before last we said our final farewells to Michelle, who departed for a new career in farming. Congratulations again Michelle, and thank you for your 12 years of service and friendship to MSO.
In addition, I would like to thank the Stromlo community for their generosity contributing to a substantial farewell gift for Michelle. With a little guidance from Michelle, we made arrangements to purchase Michelle an orchard! Yes, an orchard of between 25-45 different fruit trees. This will keep Michelle and Andrew busy and engaged with their new South Coast life.
A special thanks to Cristy, who in the role of RSAA communications, will be taking over the arduous task of coordinating the Lunation’s newsletter. Cristy, while I submit this month’s post on time, be warned this is not always a common occurrence.
Finally, I will be going on parental leave from mid-November, although I will remain in contact with RSAA on a regular basis. Sindu Nair, will be acting in the role during this time, so please reach out using mgr.rsaa@anu.edu.au for any questions or support.
