Outreach Update

February was the start of school visits, and a number of special events for outreach!
Despite schools only returning in February, we had our first few school visits of the year. Many more are booked in, and we are already receiving bookings for 2026!
We were also at the Canberra Show! Thanks to the volunteers who ran activities over the couple of days including Solar Observing - especially with the clouds cooperating for once!
Stephen Slater, producer of Apollo 11 amongst other works, has been visiting. He was here to premier work and footage of Apollo 8, as well as a special screening of Apollo 11.
In March, we will have our first ever night for the Enlighten Festival. In addition to stargazing, we will have projections inside the Yale-Columbia, on the 74” dome, and in the garage of the Director’s Residence. We will showcase both some of our astronomical work, as well as work and art by the ANU School of Art.
We are also starting to run our public nights at Mulligans Flat and Lanyon Homestead. These will run monthly, with nights at Mulligans on the Saturday after public nights up at Mt Stromlo, and Lanyon on the Friday after nights up here. This will allow us to reach and connect with even more people, in different ways.
