School Manager's Update

Hello everyone,
I have a couple of updates to share this month with you regarding administration staff changes and administrative processes.
Administration Staff Update:
I wanted to inform you that Alexandra (Sasha) Popko will be finishing her secondment with us as Senior Business Officer and transitioning to a new role within the Research School of Physics. Congratulations Sasha! I want to take this opportunity to thank Sasha for her valuable contributions, particularly her support with the Elevate SSO project and procurement services for the School.
Additionally, I would like to inform you that Mat Malzacher, our RSAA School Manager will be returning from parental leave on 20th May, and I will be resuming my substantive role as the RSAA Senior Business Officer. I want to thank you all for your support during my time as Acting School Manager over the past seven months.
New Hiring Process:
ANU has established a Recruitment Approval Committee (RAC) as part of the implementation of a new hiring process. In line with this committee, an additional stage of approval has been incorporated into the process for all appointments. This applies to all new hires including casual professionals and extensions/variations of employment. The only exclusion is the hire of Casual Sessional Academics. Should an appointment or contract variation be required to maintain business continuity or be aligned with the priorities of the business unit, a clear and concise justification for the appointment must be provided. Q accounts and inactivation:
As you may have noticed while completing a travel form or submitting a Concur claim, some of the Q accounts may not have appeared in the list. This is a result of an exercise performed by the Central team to inactivate Q account GLC’s that did not have any transactions in the past year. We are now working with the College Finance team to activate these GLC’s. In the meantime, if you have any queries about this, please reach out to me at mgr.rsaa@anu.edu.au
