Congratulations to undergraduate student and outreacher Amy Briggs who was selected for the 6-month Science Communication Intership at ESO.
June saw a steady stream of school visits to Mount Stromlo. With schools from five different states, we worked around the clouds. We also had private groups, from around Australia and four different countries, pay visit to Mt Stromlo.
Whilst the public night at Mt Stromlo was cloudy and rainy, we still had 80 people attend to listen to a talk by RSAA Honours student Jess Ross. Our nights at Mulligans Flat and Lanyon Homestead were clear at least with great crowds.
We had a special event with ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics (CECS) and ACT government talking about some of the lighting work that we have been doing to improve lighting efficiency while reducing light pollution. Stay tuned for more details on this project in an upcoming Feast of Facts.
We had our second Stromlo 100th anniversary series talk by Matthew Colless on 21 June. Despite being a very cold night, we had about 100 people attend. The next talk in the series will be Lisa Kewley on 19 September.
For the July school holidays, we have been running school holiday programs and public events at Thredbo, and we look to continue to grow this partnership.
