RSAA Outreach

Even though July meant school holidays across Australia, we still had visits from 15 school/educational groups with nearly 1000 students. We also ran, for the second year, a week-long work experience program with ACT education, with about 40 students attending.

The clouds played tricks during the public night at Mount Stromlo, as the clouds did not break despite 800 people showing up. The Visitor Centre was packed with a stream of people listening to talks. Our nights at Mulligans Flat and Lanyon Homestead were clear at least with great crowds.

Taking advantage of the school holidays, we ran programs at Thredbo resort - during the daytime after kids finished on the slopes and also in the evening when there was no skiing. Thredbo is turning out to be a great partnership and extension of our activities!

August for outreach means Science Week, with lots of events across Canberra, NSW, and the country. In September, we will also have the next talk in the Stromlo 100 anniversary series by Prof. Tamara Davis
