IDEA Update
Published in the RSAA Lunations
Vol1 Issue62 1–31 May 2025
As we approach aphelion, the IDEA committee has been steadily heating up with activity of its own. Work is underway to implement the recommendations raised during the recent School review.
One of these is the creation of local points of contact to help guide individuals toward the appropriate resources or reporting avenues. Six individuals have stepped forward to serve as First Respondents. They will undergo personalised training in July, and the service will be available to the community in the second half of the year. In the meantime, if you're unsure how to navigate concerns or challenging situations, we encourage you to explore the resolution charts and resources available on the RSAA IDEA page, including the Disclosure Tool.
For those of you who completed Mental Health First Aid training a couple of years ago and recently received an email about expiring accreditation, a quick note: we are planning a new Mental Health workshop in collaboration with the ANU Inclusive and Respectful Communities team. However, please note that this session will not count toward MHFA reaccreditation. If you'd like to maintain your MHFA certification, your best option is to enrol in one of the official online refresher courses offered directly through MHFA.
Lastly, the IDEA committee has submitted the rejoinder for the ASA Pleiades Awards. We're eagerly awaiting the outcome and depending on the timing, we might already have the results by the time you read this!
