Mount Stromlo Outreach

With July school holidays, while schools were not travelling as much, private groups were in full force as well as our first school holiday programs.

For 3 days during the 1st week of school holidays (8 - 10 July), we had 20, 6 - 11 year olds and 15, 12 -15 year olds up at Mt Stromlo.  From rocket design, to mars rovers, planetarium shows, and antennas to talk to the ISS, the students did it all.

It was a lot of work, 8am - 6pm every day, but at the end it was a great time and experience. Spots sold out superfast, and we've already been asked to run it again in the October school holidays.  Thanks to Clinton, Jess M, Axelle, Jamie, Ben, and Zac for their great work.

During the same time, on Thursday and Friday, Jess R., Jess M., and Axelle ran programs at Thredbo resort for school holidays. Heavy snow may have been at Thredbo, but guests were entertained and educated about astronomy and space after getting off the slopes.

The end of July is seeing school visits ramping up again and August is shaping up to be very busy, with Science Week events across Canberra and the region.
