Congratulations to PhD student Sophie Kim, recipient of the 2026 Zonta Club of Canberra Breakfast Scholarship!

Sophie completed her Bachelor of Science in Astronomy and Space Science at Kyung Hee University in South Korea before joining the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA).

Her research uses radio observations to explore magnetism in the gas that fills and connects galaxy groups and clusters across the cosmic web.

When she’s not immersed in her research, Sophie is always happy to chat about life, the Universe, and everything in between.

You can hear Sophie share her research at Evening with the Stars at Mount Stromlo Observatory on Friday, 11 September, from 6pm.
