School Manager's Report

Published in the RSAA Lunations
Vol1 Issue3 1–30 April 2020

What a year 2020 is turning out to be! We are all now adjusting to working from home at least till the end of June. For many of us, this has been a struggle. I would like to assure everyone that all administrative services are operational and lead times are being reduced by business process improvement. Please email using the functional emails below from now onwards to ensure that your requests are dealt with by the appropriate people:

  1. RSAA - Enquiries rsaa.enquiries@anu.edu.au: Any enquiry related to RSAA administration can be sent to this email address. Please note if the enquiry is confidential in nature, email the School Manager (me) or the School Director (Matthew Colless) directly.

  5. Outreach and Tours – Please email  outreach@mso.anu.edu.au for all enquires related to outreach. Please note that most outreach activities have been suspended for the time being.
  6. If you have IT issues working from home please lodge a ticket with rsaa.servicedesk@anu.edu.au. If you have taken IT equipment off the mountain (other than laptops) and not informed IT yet, please email itloans@mso.anu.edu.au with pictures.

Please note that all requests for funding and confidential matters should be emailed to the School Manager (me) or Matthew Colless (Director) only and that you should not email any functional emails for this purpose. I would like to assure everyone that we are working behind the scenes to ensure that the RSAA economy is not heavily impacted by COVID-19. Steps have been taken by the relevant directors and myself to soften the blow. We are doing as much as possible to support our students and staff.

Now for some good news! The physical shutdown of SSO and Stromlo campus' has allowed us to do development and maintenance work. The Duffield main entrance door has been automated. Stromlo will be the first campus whose external signage is supposed to be refreshed in June. Electrical work and other critical maintenance work on the houses is being completed. There is now a security guard present at Stromlo 24 hours a day for the duration of the physical lockdown. We have now moved to a virtual campus in very short period of time, which is a major feat in itself. Resources that have been deployed to support teaching are giving fruitful dividends. We should congratulate ourselves and each other for accomplishing this.

Stay safe and stay positive and reach out to your supervisor, myself, or Matthew if you need help.
