School Manager's Report

Published in the RSAA Lunations
Vol1 Issue9 1–31 October 2020

In the Federal Budget, the government announced an additional $1 billion for the nation’s research effort, welcome news to the university sector. This is particularly welcome news for RSAA, a premier research intensive school. The government also announced $550M in additional Commonwealth-supported places. These injections of new funds will help stabilise the tertiary education sector to some degree.

RSAA is operating more flexibly, with more people working from home, and this has had an unintended consequence on the availability of building wardens and deputy building wardens. We are working on a schedule for the wardens prior to our upcoming fire drill. I would like to thank the new wardens who volunteered to fill the void. This is a statuary requirement and if we were unable to find suitable building wardens, we would have had to close down a building!

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone for donating to RSAA endowment funds. These donations will allow us to maintain the current level and number of scholarships we provide, to fund the mental first aid training, and to maintain the current level of subsidy to different parts of RSAA. If you, your family and friends, or industry partners, would like to make a donation, please feel free to contact me or Kellie Takenaka (CoS Advancement Manager). You can now donate your excess leave as well (subject to approval from central HR). Every dollar helps at this time while we recover from the economic impact of Covid-19!
