IDEA Committee

It’s been a big year for the RSAA IDEA committee. We are playing a critical role working with RSAA members to spread awareness of all matters under our remit.
In 2020, we have organised ALLY training, secured funding from the ‘Workplace Giving Committee’ for mental health first aid training and are taking an active role in organising Covid-19 safe events for the RSAA community.
The IDEA committee have also been working hard behind the scenes to draft the application for the ‘Bronze Plaides Award’ which has now been circulated for your comments. Furthermore, the committee have worked with various members of the school including the RSAA Executive to provide staff and students with a streamlined flowchart for grievance resolution which has now been circulated by our co-chair Noelia Martinez Rey.
We also continue to play a supporting and critical role in the development of policies and procedures in every Culture Action Plan (CAP) working group, assisting leads in formulating and drafting policies and procedure. We are taking notes on comments made in each of the CAP working group meetings and discussing them at our committee meetings. This has given us a rare insight into the various issues that are being raised. Where relevant, we are communicating this to the RSAA Executive. Hopefully this valuable insight will allow us to formulate further activities that could directly resolve some of the issues.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who actively collaborate with us to ensure that the IDEA committee initiatives and work are successful. We look forward to working more closely with all members of the School to create awareness and to improve inclusion, diversity, equity and access for RSAA.
