We recently reached an exciting milestone, with over 100kg of food and organic waste diverted from landfill at Stromlo to date! This fantastic achievement was reached after only about 30 weeks (taking into account the lockdown last year). Duffield continues to extend their lead over Possum Hall and the other buildings - good work students!
It's also been great to see advantage being taken of the new composting facilities at Stromlo, with numerous people now bringing in their organic waste from home. I'm keen for there to be no barrier to participation - if you'd like advice on getting set up at home or you don't have the time to wander over to House 18, please get in touch and we can work something out!
COVID restrictions have now eased sufficiently that you can bring your reusable coffee cups to the coffee van on Wednesdays. If you forget to bring yours, remember that disposable coffee cups (and their lids and any plastic straws) can be dropped off in the special collection areas in lower Duffield and upper Woolley to be recycled.
It's now also possible to drop off medicine blister packs at those same places. Just make sure they're empty first! If you want to participate in these extra recycling schemes, but you never find yourself visiting Woolley or Duffield, get in touch and we can try to work out a good place for another collection area.
Finally, a big thanks to everyone who came to my Feast of Facts a few weeks ago to hear me rant about climate change, and for the positive comments I got afterwards! If you missed it but would like to know more about "The role of the individual in tackling environmental issues" you can watch it here
