Outreach Update

It has been a busy month for outreach with school groups, private nights, a lunar eclipse, and a marriage proposal!

We hosted visits from Armidale School (Armidale NSW), Tyndale Christian (Sydney), a Scout group, Immanuel Lutheran College (Gold Coast), South Sydney High School (Sydney), St Kevin’s College.

Thank you to Jonah Hansen , Raj Mohapatra, Maddie McKenzie, Stephanie Monty, Wei Shen Oh, Staci Pearlman, Adam Rains, Lachlan Reinstein, and Matt Roth for doing them!  

We also hosted 10 private nights in May.  It is nice when the weather cooperates. One night was a very special event for two people, as it was also a marriage proposal in the outreach dome (see picture !)  This is not the first marriage proposal during a private night, and hopefully it won’t be the last!

For the Total Lunar Eclipse, we hosted a public stargazing event at the front Parliament House.  We had about 500 members of the public as well as a number of MP's and Senators who came out for long periods to enjoy the eclipse with everyone!

Thank you to Craig Collins, Grace Goodman, Jonah Hansen, Raj Mohapatra, Adam Rains, Peter Swanton, and  Dave Weldrake for braving the cold and helping out!  It was a great night and awesome to see so many people!
