Welcome
School Services Mr Simon Foxcroft, Building Project Manager, commenced at RSPE this week. Simon joins us from RSB and has a wealth of experience with science building projects. He will help facilitate the Master Planning and build of the new Physics precinct.

Publication Collection Process - ANU Insight meetings
Research Services Division and Planning and Performance Measurement will again be running the publication collection process using the methodology developed for the HERDC and ERA collections in previous years. This means that ANU Insight will be used to coordinate and validate the research publication collection. This is an important exercise which contributes directly to the Excellence in Research for Australia 2018 assessment, and publications collected will also feed into the Statement of Academic Activity process. » read more

Performance and Development Supervisor Familiarisation Sessions : May 2016
In September 2015 the University introduced a new on-line Performance Development Review (PDR) form for both Academic and Professional staff to replace the existing paper based process.
This process has automated the workflow and is supported by data integration with a number of our key systems including ANU Insight (Statement of Academic Activity) and the Human Resources Management System (HRMS). » read more

Supervisor training course
ANU HDR supervisors have the opportunity to take up the following professional development activities offered by the research training team in the office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Research Training) and you are encouraged to attend if you can. The professional development being offered is specific to your needs as a supervisor of HDR students. Come along and learn from experienced peers and share your own knowledge of supervision. This is also an opportunity to build collegial networks across the ANU. » read more

ARC Future Fellowships are now open. If your PhD was conferred between March 2001 and March 2011 you may be eligibilble to apply. Please contact arc.rm@anu.edu.au to notify the College Research Office your intent to apply so we can confirm your eligibility and provide you with support for your application. The internal deadline for complete applications is Monday 18 April. |

The Australia Indonesia Centre, of which ANU is a member, is offering sponsorship for an ANU PhD student or early career academic to join the 2016 Australia-Indonesia Leaders Program (18-27 May 2016).

Applied Maths (AM) A/Prof Adrian Sheppard will be on leave 18-22 April 2016. Prof Vince Craig with be Acting HOD during this time.
Nuclear Physics (NP) Emeritus Prof Keith Fifield will vist Singapore and India 14-25 April 2016. Discussing ongoing collaborations at the National University of Singapore, and will give a seminar. In New Delhi he will give a series of lectures to potential users of the AMS facility at the Inter University Accelerator Centre.
Theoretical Physics (TP) Prof Mukunda Das is invited as keynote speaker in the Nanotech 2016 Dubai during 20-23 April 2016. |

A borrowed Lab Coat had un-protected tweezers inside and the wearer suffered a puncture wound. Recommendations: Don't place sharp objects in lab coats, carefully pat down pockets for objects, have spare coats available for general users. |
