Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to announce that Sue Wigley has accepted the offer to join us in the role of Executive Assistant.  Sue will join us from the Dean’s office where she is currently the EA to Professor Andrew Roberts.  Some may even remember her from her time helping to run the PhB program with Associate Professor Paula Newitt, now Dean of Students.  I couldn’t be happier to have Sue join our School community and greatly look forward to welcoming her in August.

There are some great student profiles and a few new discoveries announced on the School website. I draw your attention to recent work from the Nonlinear Physics Centre.

The inviting picture above comes from Dr John Debs - The island of Ambrym in Vanuatu is an active volcanic with one of just five lava lakes in the world.  Nice warm thoughts for the cold weekend ahead.

I’m away next week and Professor Rob Elliman has kindly offered to stand in for me.

Have a restful weekend.

Tim
