Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

My thanks again to everyone who made Founder’s Day so special last week.  This week’s image shows one of those happy moments.

Today we commence a new and more inclusive process for appointing Heads of Departments in the School. The process has been discussed with the Heads and DQS will lead in the first trial of this process.  I met with DQS on Wednesday and now call for Expressions of Interest for the next Head of DQS.  At this meeting the DQS members determined the term of the next appointment will be for 5 years.  This EoI will conclude at 5pm on Friday 27th October and Stewart will be the Returning Officer.  Details of the process can be found below. After the trial concludes I would be happy to hear comments on the process as we’ll be running similar EoI’s this year for NP and CPF.

Jagadish will be presenting a public event as part of his membership of the Order of Australia Association next Thursday, 26th October 2017, on Nanotechnology: Opportunities and Challenges.

A reminder about the final Grand Challenges public pitches 5:30-7:30, 31 October 2017 .  I wish all applicants the very best in this final round.  It’s been a grand commitment of time and I think the three finalists all represent the very best elements of the ANU collaborative spirit.

Have a great weekend.
Tim
