Director's Message
Corrected version
Congratulations again to Andrea Butler for her lead role involving improving breast feeding facilities on campus. Our School will be donating the annual subscription to the Australian Breast-feeding Association each year so we can be part of a growing group of accredited organisations.
Last night in Melbourne Dr. John Debs was awarded a 2017 Australian Award for Teaching Excellence. There were 17 individual National awards, and the award is for a combination of teaching students to “think like a physicist” as well as learning space design and the makerspace. Nationally, there were 4 awards in the physical sciences, but John was the only physicist. Nice one, John!
It’s a week for happy photos. Also, below is a photo from Sweden where we see our David McClelland standing with this year’s Nobel Laureates at the award ceremony. This is a wonderful exemplar of how close we are to ground breaking research.
Congratulations goes out to all our graduands this year including our Honours cohort - see below with James Sullivan.
And finally, there is a special gift for the first person who sees me today and can pick the normal identity our School Santa Claus shown in this week’s pic.
As people drift of on holidays over the next week I would like to thank you all for making this School one of the best in so many aspects. Have a safe and happy holiday and I look forward to working with you next year.
Best wishes,
Tim |
