Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
It’s my pleasure to congratulate both Professors Andrew Stuchbery and Michael Shats on their renewals as respective Heads of the Department of Nuclear Physics (5 year term) and Centre for Plasmas and Fluids (3 year term). The EoIs for the new Heads of Department of Applied Mathematics and Electronic Materials Engineering open today and will remain open until Friday 2nd February 2018. After consultation with the Department the terms of appointments for Applied Maths will be 4 years, and for EME 3 years. Please refer to guidelines and selection criteria found at https://physics.anu.edu.au/intranet/EventHorizon/?Article=2921.
Something for the break when your surfing the web.; why not take a virtual tour of the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility https://physics.anu.edu.au/tour/ (see: https://physics.anu.edu.au/news.php?NewsID=141). This is an outstandingly informative and engaging tour and I’d like to thank all the contributors to the content, in particular Ed Simpson and Phil Dooley for realising this project.
This week’s pic was taken at Jagadish’s 60th celebration and shows (left to right) Professors Jim Williams, Ian Chubb, Jagadish and Graham Farquhar. It was a great evening with many wonderful tributes to one of ANU’s valued leaders. From the Directors Office, we wishing you all the best for the New Year,
Tim and Sue |
