Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Vale Helen Mary Crompton: 18 July 1924 – 22 March 2018

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the loss of a dear member of our School community, Helen Crompton.  From the early 1960’s, Helen was a central figure in the growing School community, after she and Bob relocated their family from Adelaide to Canberra as part of Vice Chancellor Leonard Huxley’s new Electron and Ion Diffusion Unit.   Ever since, Helen has fostered and supported students, establishing with her husband the celebrated Robert and Helen Crompton Award.  For almost 2 decades, this highly valued award has helped dozens of students pursue collaborative opportunities and develop academic careers for extended periods overseas.  The award reflects the thoughtfulness and caring nature that Bob and Helen have always held for the students of our School. Helen is an inspiration and she will be missed by many.

The funeral service will be held in the Anglican Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Reid on Wednesday at 11am. The family has asked for garden grown flowers only. I invite you to contribute flowers or colourful foliage to a School basket at the School reception by 9:30 on the day.  Please sign the condolences card which will be at the reception from today.

Kind regards,

Tim
