Director's Message

The Science in ACTion outreach event was held at the Bus Depot Markets on Friday and Saturday, with over 2400 students attending on Friday and probably more general public passing through on Saturday.

Hannah James and Bethany Ellis did a fantastic job of organising an exhibit by RSES. According to Michelle Salmon, our students were absolutely amazing when talking to people about their science. We should all give them a very hearty congratulations for their effort in doing this outreach event on our behalf.

In particular, I would like to thank Kelsie Long for being at the RSES stall for two entire days! Thanks to all students and staff who helped out!

Congratulations Bishak Gayen

The ARC recently announced the outcomes of the 2018 Future Fellowships for Round 1. Bishak Gayen’s application was successful!

Congratulations to Bishak for being awarded an ARC Future Fellowship. As one of only 9 recipients at ANU in this round, this is an outstanding achievement.

Training

An important service of the Human Resource Division is the provision of a range of relevant and contemporary training and development opportunities for university staff.

To improve current staff training and development opportunities, we have undertaken the two major actions:

  1. Conducted an informal training needs analysis to identify delivery gaps in staff training needs which has resulted in the introduction of new and additional training workshops that will be offered across the course of the 2018 year.
  2. Refreshed the ANU Staff Training & Development website to streamline and update information on the range of face-to-face training and online training opportunities – the refreshed site is available at: https://services.anu.edu.au/human-resources/training-development

These service improvements are part of our broader goal to strengthen support for individual professional and career development, and the advancement of the university’s strategic priorities and vision.
