Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you had a great weekend. Firstly, some fantastic news. It has just been announced that Distinguished Professor Jagadish is to be awarded the UNESCO medal "Contribution to development of nanoscience and nanotechnolgies". In Jagadish’s own words, “it is recognition for my group members (past and present) and collaborators (past and present).” For me, it also highlights that Jagadish is at the centre of so much significant research. More details after the award next month.
Could supervisors please keep an eye on PDRs, as the number of outstanding reports is growing.
Demolition of the Applied Maths Cottages is progressing well with all hazardous materials now successfully removed. Go to: https://physics.anu.edu.au/intranet/building_project/ for a live site camera.
The Joint Colleges of Science Administration team, as part of its commitment to Reconciliation, has chosen to decorate the work spaces it inhabits with art created by local Indigenous artists. The above pic is of Charlie the crocodile in the Research School of Earth Sciences lobby where the unveiling event took place last week.
