Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
It was a great honour to attend conferral last week. My congratulations to all the graduates. Together with recent students, a number from past years were able to defer their award so they might walk across the stage in person. Their patience paid off and Chancellor Julie Bishop gave every student her warmest congratulations. It was a terrific event and I was thrilled to see our first graduate from the Masters of Science (Quantum Technology).

Over the past 8 years many will have come to know Dr Siva Karuturi (EME/CECS) for his work with Professors Jagadish and Tan on solar energy and hydrogen research. It is my pleasure to congratulate Siva on his recent conversion to an ongoing Senior Lecturer position in CECS. Through recent industry funding and grants, Siva will be growing his group and I am so pleased to see another collaboration with Engineering growing even stronger.
I snapped the picture below to highlight some of the finishing touches on our new building.
Have a great week, Tim |

Student Skills and Career Development Workshops Poll
In January the HDR team sent a short poll to HDR students about career development workshops that the Researcher Development team can offer to be held in RSPhys. These workshops offer training in a range of skills, from writing to research translation. The feedback from students who attended these workshops in the past has been overwhelmingly positive.
The poll aims to make a priority list of which of these workshops will be offered this year tailored to Physics HDR students. Unfortunately, the response to the poll has been low so far. The HDR team would encourage students and supervisors to discuss these development opportunities and participate in the poll. The HDR team know everyone is busy but ultimately developing skills in the areas offered can help navigating HDR projects more efficiently and save time for everyone involved.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the HDR team if you have any further questions. » read more
