Physics Project Market Day - Aug 17
To enable our undergraduate students to have the opportunity to engage more with research conducted within the school, Physics Project Market Day will take place on Thursday 17th August from 12pm to 2pm in the foyer of the new building. The event is an opportunity to interact directly with undergraduate students by sharing/discussing your research and potential projects with them by presenting a poster. This will be the 10th Anniversary of Physics Project Market Day!
What you need to do:
- By Friday 11th August, if you would like to participate in this event, can you please sign up in the participant list at Physics Project Market Day 2023 and include your email address
- On Thursday 17th August, bring a poster to the foyer (if you have signed up a poster board will be allocated to you) and interact with students
A booklet for 2023 will be printed with all recently updated projects.

Advancing the Future: Gender Equity in STEM
Society and the planet need as many enthusiastic, talented people as possible tackling challenges and solving problems with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Currently, STEM is less diverse and inclusive than it should be. Imagine what could happen if science achieved gender equity?

John Carver Seminar Series 2023 - Sep 28

RSPhys HDR students are warmly invited to participate in the John Carver Seminar Series 2023, an annual event aimed at showcasing the amazing research done by our students and celebrating the wealth of talent in our School.
The John Carver Seminar Series 2023 will be held on Thursday 28 September starting at 10am in the new Auditorium (building 160).
Participants will need to present a 15-minute talk on their research to the audience of fellow students and RSPhys colleagues. The talks are not followed by questions.

Chemistry In The Pub: Call For presenters
It’s time to let people in on the secret - Chemistry is everywhere, even in the RSPhys!
Chemistry in the Pub is on September 19, and the call for presenters is open, for anyone with some chemistry research, reactions or revelations to share. Any aspect of chemistry is welcome, diversity of all sorts is encouraged - gender, race, AND chemistry research area!
You’re invited to get creative - quizzes, poems, songs all welcome (not necessary) in your eight-minute slot. MC Dr Phil Dooley (Phil Up On Science) will have the crowd warmed up and ready to cheer. Supported by RACI ACT Branch.

Astronomy Cathedrals - Aug 16th

David McClelland and Susan Scott will participate in a panel discussion at an event organised by the Italian Embassy on the evening of 16 August. The event is held at Physics Auditorium and is focused on funding Einstein Telescope – a proposed third-generation ground-based gravitational wave detector, currently under study by some institutions in the European Union – and Italy's proposed location of Sardinia, Italy. As part of this event, Susan Scott will give a public lecture on the theory of general relativity, gravitational waves and the significance of larger and more sensitive gravitational wave detectors.

Australian Sovereign Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and Trusted Autonomy Capability
The Research Management team would like to share a notification for a RFI in defence related research under the new Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) agency (has replaced functions from Defence Innovation Hub for connecting industry, defence and universities on research and development opportunities).
Topic is: Australian Sovereign Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and Trusted Autonomy Capability – Request for Information (RFI). Conditions of RFI and Annex A Information To Be Supplied by Respondents is attached for your information.

3. It is no longer required to report positive RAT tests to ACT Health, however it is strongly encouraged to do so, using this online form. |
