Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to National Science Week - a busy week for Physics, with lots to celebrate.
On Tuesday, as part of the 50th anniversary of the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility the staff and students of NPAA will host a public showing of this remarkable international facility. All the best to the extended community of NPAA on this special day, with more festivities to follow.
On Wednesday evening, see below, David McClelland and Susan Scott will participate in a panel discussion on the Einstein Telescope, an event sponsored by the Italian Embassy in our auditorium. Undoubtedly there will be some fine Italian refreshments afterwards. Please register.
This Thursday, we celebrate the 10th Physics Project Market Day! This is a wonderful event that covers all aspects of our research, with six other schools attending. Projects range from the very fundamental to the applied and reflect the extensive research pathways in the physical sciences at ANU. This year more than 120 projects are showcased covering all types of research, from vacation scholarships to PhD. My thanks in advance to all the poster presenters and organisers.
I'll be extending the EoI for the Associate Director (Education) by another week, now closing 21st August.
Science Week for me means travelling to the Pilbara with some of Prof Mark Knackstedt’s team (DMP/M3D).
Have a great week, Tim |
