Director's Message
Dear Colleagues,
The President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Hou Jianguo is seen congratulating the President of the Australian Academy of Science, Distinguished Professor Chennupati Jagadish AC at the induction ceremony for Foreign Members in Beijing last week (Credit: Chinese Academy of Sciences). Jagadish is only one of four Australians to have been honoured this way. In his acceptance speech he highlighted that “… cooperation not only advances science but also fosters global solidarity and peace…”. My congratulations to Jagadish, who noted with fondness the great contributions of his group members and collaborators over the years. See the Academy website for more.
A couple of notes;
- don’t forget the Director’s Colloquium on Wednesday. My thanks to A/Prof James Sullivan (NPAA), who will host our guests from Fujitsu.
- We’ll be running a training/trouble-shooting session for the new RP+ research profile tool Wednesday 10th 1100-1230 in the auditorium.
Below, the magnificent copper roof of the RSES workshop is seen as pristine as it would have over 50 years ago. I’m grateful to Prof Louis Moresi (RSES) for taking this beautiful image from his office, which appeared in the RSES newsletter last week.
Have a great week, Tim |
