Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Only two things from me this week, a reminder about Founder’s Day talks and lunch. See you then.

While I’m travelling next week Prof Cedric Simenel will be Acting Director.

Cheers,
Tim

Attention Physics HDR Students!

We are looking for expressions of interest for 3 Minute student talks at the Heavy Ion Accelerator Symposium (HIAS) running from 11-13 November at ANU. The talks are designed to replace traditional poster sessions, be more engaging and allow for shorter talks in a friendly, low stakes environment. The format is similar to the 3 Minute Thesis, where you will tell us about your research in simple and engaging language. There will also be prizes for the best talks!

We highly encourage research students from any stage of their degree to participate - you can gain experience giving talks, have fun, and have the chance to win an award.

Participants need to be registered attendees of the symposium, and expressions of interest are required by October 25th.

CSIRO Alumni Scholarship In Physics 2025

The CSIRO Alumni Scholarship in Physics is a postgraduate scholarship of $6000, which will be used to fund travel costs to visit and/or conduct research in an overseas or interstate institution such as a university or research establishment of international standing in the field of proposed research. In these uncertain times, we understand that travel restrictions may have an impact. To reflect the current situation, we have updated our criteria for the scholarship to allow the winner up to 18 months to use the scholarship for travel or use it to further their career with training, attend online conferences or develop their research.
